When I was a little girl, I spent many long summer days on the sidelines of my brother’s soccer games.
I would play with the other children.
I would annoy my mom.
But most of the time, I would use my imagination to pretend I was somewhere else.

One day, I wandered away from the field and over to the tree line of a neighboring forest. I was walking along when I was confronted by a large crow.
He flew up into the treetops, cackling, staring down at me. I imagined he was a sentinel, a lookout guard of the forest, warning all the other creatures that I was close to entering their private kingdom.

Recently, I’ve been adapting this memory into a children’s story about a girl who gets lost in the woods, and the animals help her find her way home.
I’ve been using midjourney to visualize some of the characters and scenes. So far, it’s been easy and incredibly satisfying to see the thing in my head come to life on the screen.

One character I’ve been working on is this friendly little raccoon. During her first night in the woods, he finds the girl some food and a cozy place to sleep. He also brings her a nightlight fashioned from an old paint can filled with fireflies.
What shall I name him? Let me know in the comments below!
